Orange Coast Velo strives to keep riders of all levels of fitness involved in club rides. We are a recreational riding and social club – not a race club. We promote safe riding in a cooperative atmosphere to build camaraderie and have fun. Please choose pace groups appropriate to your fitness level. We do our best to keep riders together, and it's the responsibility of each and every rider to pick the right group.

All rides begin at the Huntington Beach pier by the Visitor Information Kiosk in front of Dukes Restaurant and return to the Main Street area of HB. There are at least two bathroom/rest stops per ride. The club rotates through approximately 30 different rides each Saturday. Saturday we offer four rides: A1, A2, B and C the descriptions are explained below:

Saturdays - 7:30am A1 (60 to 70 miles). The A1 group rides at a faster pace. Riders falling off the A1 pace will be picked up by A2.

Saturdays - 8:00am A2 (60 to 70 miles). A2 rides follow an identical route as A1 with the A1 group riding at a faster pace. Riders falling off the A1 pace will be picked up by A2. A2 maintains a brisk pace but is a "No Drop" ride and will make regroup stops at left turns.

Saturdays - 8:00am B (45 to 50 miles). The B ride is with a similar pace as the A2 with fewer hills and shorter distance. B is also a "No Drop" ride and will make regroup stops at left turns.

Saturdays - 8:30am C (35-50 miles). The C ride is a moderate paced ride. With various routes, depending on the skill levels and interest of those that turn out for the day. This is a more informal, social ride, perfect for enjoying Southern California when you are in no hurry. It is a good introduction to OCV for guests interested in joining a group ride.

Sundays - 8:00am Team Ride (32 miles). Team ride for all members and guests. Speed will vary depending on attendees and may form into two or more pace groups. Ride follows the same route each week and features a rest stop at Bonita Creek Park and regroup at Turtle Rock Park.

Monday – 9:00am (35 miles). Flat route at recovery ride pace to Long Beach Shoreline Village with stop for coffee and view of the Queen Mary.

Tuesday and Thursday - 8:00am (50-60 miles). These are moderate paced rides along various routes to be determined at the pier and usually return before noon.

Wednesday and Friday - 9:00am (50-60 miles). These are easy to moderate paced small group rides along various routes to be determined at the pier.

Pace groups are intended to allow club members and guests to slot themselves into a compatible group and challenge themselves as their fitness improves. For example, when you first ride with OCV the Saturday C ride might feel like a struggle. Once you’re comfortable with the C ride you’ll want to join the Saturday B ride. When you become a proficient B rider then the longer and slightly faster Saturday A2 ride will beckon; and then the A1.

This policy is intended to server a guideline only and can be modified by the agreement of all that show up for a particular ride.
